US Economy Adds 2.5M Jobs in May 2020

This week, we saw protestors globally—including in all 50 states—marching to protest police violence and the unjust deaths of black Americans. We believe that to be silent is to be complicit, and Vyten has always been built around supporting each other, bringing communities together, and we believe the brutal treatment of Black people in our country must stop.

In other news, we saw good movement in the job market this week. Stocks soared Friday morning after the economy unexpected added jobs in May (WSJ).

A breakdown by industry shows the top industries that added jobs last month (Yahoo!):

  • Leisure & Hospitality +1.2M
  • Construction +464K
  • Education & Health Services +424K
  • Retail Trade +367K

This news drove the S&P 500 up 2.6% (ABC) after the government said that U.S. employers added 2.5 million works to their payrolls last month.
